FINE

WOODWORKING

The debt of gratitude I owe to Sculptor Barry Freedland is identical to that I owe Studio Furniture makers and Fine Woodworkers Judy McKie and John Everdell. I grew up and remained close with Judy, who notified me about available shop space in the industrial building where she and John worked. I moved in unaware that the space itself was the least valuable feature of the move. I ventured down our shared hall routinely to see what Judy and John were up to, how exactly they were doing it, and what I could learn from it.

Like Barry before them, Judy and John indulged years of my insatiable curiosity. Their work is exquisite and precious, as was the daily opportunity to watch it unfold. These decades old mentorships inform and improve everything I make to this day.
